Winners of Saint-Gobain Student Contest are Determined!

Turkey finals of “Saint-Gobain Student Contest” in which the students are expected to plan projects by taking the issue of sustainability in the world with a different theme each year is concluded.

The team consisting of Gazi University student Elif Şencal and 19 Mayıs University student Burak Aydın who came first in the competition, and the team consisting of Gizem Çalışkan and Ayça Sevinç from İzmir Ekonomi University, who came in second, were entitled to go to Paris, where the international final will be held.

Winners of Saint-Gobain Student Contest 2020 which is realized with the joint participation and contribution of Saint-Gobain companies that operate in Turkey have been announced. 5 projects selected from among 19 projects that passed the 2nd stage competed in the national final held in Istanbul on October 31st and held on the webinar. 
Gazi University student Elif Şencal and 19 Mayıs University student Burak Aydın won the prize of 10 thousand TL due to having an original language, reflecting the basic idea well and the enrichment potential of the project being high. The team also won the right to represent Turkey in the international final in Paris will be made. 
Gizem Çalışkan and Ayça Sevinç team from Izmir University of Economics, who came in second with their project that meet the criteria required in the specification and stand out with their analytical work, won the prize of 7 thousand five hundred TL. The winning teams also gained the right to represent our country in the international final to be held in Paris in 2021 and compete for the international award.
The subject of the contest which Saint-Gobain organises in 35 countries worldwide, hosted by Izocam, Saint-Gobain Rigips and Saint-Gobain Weber this year in Turkey,  was defined as “reburgoening life” in a neighbourhood of Paris. 
University students participating in the Student Contest transformed the historical heritage traces of the Saint Denis industrial region of Paris into green living, learning and recreation areas suitable for today's needs. In the first phase of the competition, the students were asked to create a vision for the concept of "sprout life with your design", to design green living, learning and recreation areas suitable for today's needs and turn these ideas into preliminary projects. 
The awards in the international stage of the competition were determined as follows; first prize 1.500 €, second prize 1.000 €, third prize 750 €, special prize and student awards 500 €. 
In the jury of the competition, İTU Mechanical Engineering Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Abdurrahman Kılıç, Günarda Project Management General Manager Master Architect Ali Erkan Şahmalı, Dilekçi Architecture Founder Master Architect Durmuş Dilekçi, İTU Mechanical Engineering Faculty Member Assoc. Dr. Gülten Manioğlu, Suyabatmaz Demirel Architecture Founding Partner Master Architect Hakan Demirel and METU Engineering Faculty Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Mehmet Çalışkan were present.
