İzocam in the Press
During these days, when we are all responsible for each other and act with awareness for sustainable and healthy tomorrows is much more important to note when buying XPS products that they don’t contain HBDC.
The use of HBCD substance used with XPS products has been banned in our country as of November 2019. Regulation on Persistent Organic Contaminants, in which the detailed information regarding the matter can be found, have been released on Official Gazette on November 14, 2018. Its purpose it to protect human health and the environment from the negative effects of persistent organic pollutants.
Defined as a persistent organic contaminant, HBCD (hexabromocyclododecane, brominated flame retardant) is used as a flame retardant additive to delay polymer ignition and slow down the fire that may arise. This substance is listed among pollutants in Annex A of the Stockholm Convention, which Turkey is a signatory of since 12 January 2010. The amendment made has gone into effect in most of the signatory countries in November 2014, and it became mandatory to prepare action plans for the prohibition and/or restriction of the use/application, manufacture, import, and export of this chemical, as well as the elimination of HBCD stocks.
Living healthy is the fundamental right of every living thing. In order to obtain the right to a healthy life, it is necessary to use insulation products that take care of human health. At this point, we, as Izocam, take care to produce products that do not harm human health within the framework specified by the laws.
Izocam Foamboard, which is described as a product with high sustainability contribution since it provides thermal insulation without HBCD, also directly contributes to 8 main topics of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (13 items) which are ‘Affordable and Clean Energy', 'Responsible Consumption and Production', 'Sustainable Cities and Communities', 'Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure', 'Good Health and Well-being', 'Climate Action', 'Decent Work and Economic Growth'.
