İzocam Achieved its Zero Waste Target

Supporting what is natural by being inspired by nature, İzocam was entitled to receive the Basic Level Zero Waste Certificate in all its facilities. İzocam drew attention to its investments in the fields of environment and human health on June 5th, World Environment Day.

World Environment Day has been celebrated on June 5th, every year since the United Nations Environment Conference was held in Stockholm, Sweden in 1972 to raise awareness and take action around the world on environmental protection. Having been leading the insulation industry in Turkey for 57 years, İzocam carries its contribution to sustainability to the next level with its products and investments in environmental modernization projects, as in many other fields.
Stating that they have taken an important step contributing to their target of environmentally friendly facility in the recent period, İzocam Managing Director Mr. Murat Savcı announced that they were entitled to receive the Basic Level Zero Waste Certificate in all their facilities. Noting that it was their Tarsus Facilities that received this document for the first time in July 2021, Mr. Savcı has said: “All our facilities were awarded this document until the end of last year. This document, which is issued by the T.R. Ministry of Environment and Urbanization indicates that the facility has completed a series of processes that cover the prevention of waste at a basic level, the more efficient use of resources, the prevention or minimization of waste

generation by reviewing the causes of waste generation, and, if generated, sorting the waste at the source, collecting it separately and ensuring its recycling.”

Emphasizing that they continue to modernize their facilities in a way that is compatible with environmental conditions with the aim of reaching a ‘sustainable future’, Mr. Savcı has said, “As İzocam, we have set targets to be carbon neutral until 2050, and in this context, we have created our roadmaps for 2025 and 2030. We have put into effect the investment plans that will reduce direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions by at least 33% until 2030.

With our new investments, we aim to take our contribution to a sustainable world to the next level. On the other hand, we have implemented recycling and efficiency projects by establishing energy monitoring systems at our facilities. We replaced our lighting systems with environmentally friendly ones. Reducing our greenhouse gas emissions, limiting our water consumption and waste water generation, adapting alternative raw material sources to production processes, and many projects that will contribute to the circular economy are handled within the scope of detailed programs in order to comply with our sustainability goals.”

“İzocam mineral wools are among the most well-known and reliable products in the world”

Stating that they take into account the environment and people in the products they produce, as they do in their facilities, İzocam Managing Director Mr. Savcı has said, “We prioritize the contribution to sustainability in every detail, from the content of our products to the packaging. Although not enforced by the laws of our country, we take care to produce the products that involve recycled materials, do not harm human health and are proven to be environmentally friendly. İzocam glasswool and Stone wool insulation materials, which contain environmentally friendly materials, are among the best-known and most reliable products in the world. İzocam uses sand, basalt, natural minerals and recycled glass in 80 percent of its production. In addition, production residues are reused in manufacturing of the products. In this context, we are leading the industry with our continuous investments we made in İzocam Stone wool for 14 years and in İzocam Glasswool products for 13 years for EUCEB (EUropean CErtification Board for mineral wool products) certification. It has been proven with the EUCEB certificate that İzocam brand mineral wools do not harm human health and are biodegradable. With the EUCEB certificate, it has been documented by an independent institution that the fibers in İzocam Stone wool and İzocam Glasswool products  that penetrate the body through the skin and respiration are eliminated from the body as they are biodegradable, and are thus not carcinogenic. Products awarded with EUCEB certificate are constantly tested and the fibers are guaranteed to be harmless during the period of certificate. İzocam mineral wool products, which were also awarded with TSE (Turkish Standards Institution) and CE (Conformité Européene) certificates, allow the buildings where they are used to obtain green building certificates such as LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) – BREAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology), thanks to the recycled materials used in their production.”

İzocam Managing Director Mr. Savcı noted that the packaging renewal project is another important work of İzocam that contributes to the environment. Mr. Savcı has further said, “First of all, we renewed İzocam Glasswool packaging in a way that emphasizes its contribution to the global goals set by the United Nations for Sustainable Development. In 2021, İzocam Stone wool packages were also renewed in a way to express the sensitivity of the product to human health and the environment. Less paint was used in the new semi-transparent white packaging, and the packaging sizes and the amount of packaging used were rearranged. In this way, the amount of generated waste was reduced and a contribution was made to sustainability with this environmentally friendly packaging.”
Another important feature of the products offered by İzocam, which acts with the awareness for a sustainable and healthy future, is that they directly contribute to all 8 "Sustainable Development Goals" developed by the United Nations within the scope of combating global climate change. The features İzocam's products have and the benefits they offer support the achievement of important goals such as “Health and Quality Life”, “Accessible and Clean Energy”, “Decent Work and Economic Growth”, “Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure”, “Sustainable Cities and Communities”, “Responsible Production and Consumption”, “Climate Action” and “Partnerships for Purposes”, which are expected to be completed by 2030 and invest in our future.”
