Healthy Insulation Is A Right, Seek Your Right!

The greatest teaching of 2020 was to remind us that health is a wealth that should be taken care of under all conditions. A healthy life is the fundamental right of every living thing. In order to obtain the right to a healthy life, it is necessary to use insulation products that take care of human health.

Turkey’s first insulation company Izocam, which develops products in many needed fields such as thermal insulation, noise control, acoustic comfort and fire safety, leads the insulation industry in protecting human health and the environment for future generations with its 56 years of deep-rooted experience.

Although Izocam is not required by the laws in our country, it takes care to produce products that use recyclable materials and have proven not to harm human health. It has the privilege of being the first in the sector and leading the sector in this field with the continuous investments it has made for the EUCEB certificate in İzocam Stone Wool products for 13 years and İzocam Glass Wool for 12 years.

Izocam brand mineral wool products prove with international standards that they are products that do not harm human health with their EUCEB certificate. With the EUCEB certificate, which proves that the fibers that penetrate the body through skin and respiration are dissolved from the body,

Izocam stone wool and glass wool products are certified by an independent institution that they are not carcinogenic.

Products with EUCEB certification are constantly tested and the fibers are guaranteed to be harmless throughout the certificate. Izocam believes that healthy life is the most fundamental right for both humans and other living creatures around us, and in this direction, it has been continuing its studies based on health and safety for many years. Izocam wants to draw attention to the fact that the EUCEB logo, which is only found on the packages of manufacturers that meet EUCEB requirements, has a deeper meaning than a sign, in this period when health becomes particularly important. Izocam underlines that our living spaces are our most valuable asset and that everyone has the right to know which insulation products are used behind this asset.

How Do You Know If A Product Is EUCEB Certified?

The use of the EUCEB logo on the packaging and/or label of the products that pass the EUCEB inspection is approved. Thus, consumers can easily identify safe and healthy insulation materials from the logo on the packaging and/or label.

In addition, it can be checked on the website of the independent certification body BCCA (Belgium Building Certification Authority), which carries out the audits on behalf of EUCEB, whether the producers have EUCEB Certificates and which products this certificate covers.

Izocam mineral wool products, which have TSE and CE certificates along with the EUCEB certificate, increase the fire safety of the buildings with their A1 class fireproof feature as well as the heat and sound insulation they offer at high standards. Thanks to the recycled materials used in its production, İzocam Stone Wool and Glass Wool also enables the buildings used to obtain green building certificates such as LEED - BREAM.

Watch out for Polystyrene-based insulation products that contain persistent organic pollutants!

Izocam draws attention to the use of HBCD (hexabromocyclododecane, brominated flame retardant), which is defined as a permanent organic contaminant in XPS (Extruded Polystyrene) and EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) products, nowadays, where it is much more important to act with awareness for sustainable and healthy tomorrows.

When purchasing XPS and EPS products, it should be noted that it is "HBCD Free" (HBCD free). The "Regulation on Persistent Organic Pollutants" containing detailed information on the subject was published in the Official Gazette on November 14, 2018, and the use of HBDC in XPS and EPS products with polystyrene raw materials has been banned since November 2019. The regulation aims to protect human health and the environment from the negative effects of persistent organic pollutants by banning the use of HBDC.

Defined as a persistent organic pollutant, HBCD polymer is used as a flame retardant additive to delay ignition and slow down the fire that may arise. This substance is listed among the pollutants that needs to be eliminated in Annax A of Stockholm Convention, of which Turkey is a signatory as of 12 January 2010. The amendment made in most of the contracting countries in November 2014 came into effect and it became mandatory to prepare action plans for the prohibition and / or restriction of the use / application, manufacture, import and export of this chemical, as well as the elimination of HBCD stocks.

Another important feature of Izocam Stonewool, Izocam Glasswool, and Izocam Foamboard products, which are XPS products with high sustainability additives because they provide thermal insulation without HBCD which has been proven not to harm health by EUCEB, is their direct contribution to 8 of the "17 Global Goals for Sustainable Development" developed by the United Nations within the scope of combating global climate change. These products, thanks to their features and benefits they offer; "Healthy Individuals", "Accessible and Clean Energy", "Decent Work and Economic Growth", "Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure", "Sustainable City and Living Spaces", "Responsible Production and Consumption", "Climate Action" and supports the achievement of important goals such as “Partnerships for Goals”, which are expected to be completed by 2030 and invest in our future.

You too can protect both yourself and our world by questioning the material you bought for insulation. Good insulation is everyone's right.
